By maintaining your membership agreement with IAM RoadSmart you agree to be bound by the Articles of Association currently in force.

Payment

IAM RoadSmart accepts annual payments via direct debit, bank transfer (including standing orders), website, telephone and cheque. We cannot accept cash payments.

If paying by standing order, it is the responsibility of the payer to cancel or amend their standing order when required. Any funds paid to us in error via standing order will be not refunded and will be considered donations to the charity.

If the amount paid does not equal the annual subscription fee, IAM RoadSmart will process any funds paid as a donation to the charity and we will prompt you to pay the remaining balance in order to validate your membership.

Direct Debits

Direct Debits are called for on the first working day of the month your membership is due to expire. For example, if your membership is due to expire on the 31st of March, IAM RoadSmart will call for your Direct Debit on the 1st of March.

Direct Debits are covered by the Direct Debit Guarantee. This Guarantee is offered by all banks and building societies that accept instructions to pay Direct Debits. If there are any changes to the amount, date or frequency of your Direct Debit, IAM RoadSmart will notify you 14 working days in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed. If you request IAM RoadSmart to collect a payment, confirmation of the amount and date will be given to you at the time of the request.

If an error is made in the payment of your Direct Debit by IAM RoadSmart or your bank or building society, you are entitled to a full and immediate refund of the amount paid from your bank or building society. You understand that it is your responsibility to inform the Institute of Advanced Motorists Ltd if you pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains tax in any year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your qualifying donations and that it is your responsibility to pay any difference. Your declaration will apply to all present, future and where applicable, past donations over the last 4 years.

Please notify us via email or telephone if:

  • You want to cancel your declaration
  • You want to change your name or home address

When cancelling your membership, you must notify us in writing, either by post or email. You can cancel your membership at any time, however, please note that your membership fee is not prorated and if at the point of cancellation, you have benefited from less than a year’s membership since your last payment, you will not be due any refund.

We will not refund any membership fee payments or donations unless IAM RoadSmart have taken the payment in error. Any payments made which have been processed as part of a Gift Aid claim cannot be refunded.

In the event of a member’s death, we must be notified via post, email or telephone so that we can process the membership cancellation.

  • If the deceased member has an active Direct Debit and we have been notified of their death, we will use all endeavours to ensure the next renewal payment is not called for. If we have been unable to prevent the funds from leaving the account, we will process a refund on request.
